SPECIAL EDUCATION PARENT TRAINING INFORMATION CALENDARS: 2009-2010
The purpose of this Memorandum is to provide information to schools about parent trainings that will be offered by the Division of Special Education and the Local Districts during the 2009-2010 school year. Schools are required to publicize and disseminate this information to parents of students with disabilities. The information includes calendars of parent presentations by the Special Education Parent Training Information Office (PATIO), the Complaint Response Unit/Parent Resource Network (CRU/PRN) monthly meetings, and Local Districts. Maps for the Special Education Multicultural Advisory Committee (SEMAC) and Community Advisory Committee (CAC) monthly meetings are also included.

IMPLEMENTATION OF VOYAGER PASSPORT INTERVENTION PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES IN TARGETED ELEMENTARY AND SELF-SELECTED SCHOOLS 2009-2010 SCHOOL YEAR
The purpose of this Memorandum is to provide information to administrators of targeted elementary schools regarding mandatory implementation of the Voyager Passport Intervention Program in English Language Arts classes (Outcome 2, Strategy 2-2.2 of the Modified Consent Decree) for students with mild to moderate disabilities who participate in the California Standards Test (CST). This information also applies to schools who have self-selected to use the Voyager Passport Intervention Program and provides school administrators with guidelines for implementation and support.

SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (SETPD) GRANT: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS
The purpose of this Memorandum is to: (1) provide information to elementary school administrators regarding the Special Education Teacher Professional Development Grant; (2) outline the requirements for professional development opportunities; and (3) provide information regarding the administration of mandatory assessments for students with mild/moderate disabilities that participate in the California Standards Test (CST) and are taught by special day program teachers using Open Court Reading.

NONVIOLENT CRISIS INTERVENTION (NCI®) FOR SCHOOL SITE TEAMS
The purpose of this Memorandum is to provide information about Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training developed by the Crisis Prevention Institute, Inc. (CPI®). This training has been adopted by the District to address the needs of students with disabilities who engage in serious behavior as defined by the California Education Code § 56520, et seq, and the California Code of Regulations, Title 5.
